About the Artists

Cathy and Steve first met in Junior High School in Southern California. Several years later Cathy and Steve’s path crossed again in the Mohave Desert. Steve asked Cathy if she wanted to go to Las Vegas and get married on their second date. Cathy, being smarter than Steve, said let’s date for a while. They were married on the side of a mountain in 1974. The adventure continues – only now they are in Cayucos, on the Central Coast of California, working in ceramics.

Steve has attended a number of colleges, never quite finding his passion until taking a ceramics class. Within a few years he was possessed by the clay bug. He was fortunate to have met a number of artists and instructors who opened new avenues. His work is ever changing and evolving. Steve has gone from large raku vessels, to salt fired work, and now tea bowls with shino glazes. The options are endless. Steve enjoys sharing his knowledge by teaching workshops and doing demonstrations.

Cathy enjoys making hand built work. Ceramic boxes, lidded containers, wall pieces, and jewelry are just a few. She also works a forty-hour week away from the studio.

After a few experiences at having partners in various studio/galleries on the Central Coast, Steve and Cathy now have their own studio behind their home. A studio with a view – you can see the ocean from their workplace.

Their work can be found in galleries along the Central Coast as well as in private collections on the East Coast.
